Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a word that has been showing up lately in the coaching/mentoring arena.  Because of this, I wanted to share a message from one of the emails that speaks specifically to “mindfulness” from my “21 Day to Body Mindfulness” email program.

Let's start with Google’s definition for Mindfulness:

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience.

What a beautiful definition and a gentle reminder of how we often go unconscious to our lives, with a robotic routine that keeps us from day-to-day experiences that are magical and go unnoticed. With hectic career and family demands, we find ourselves going from one task to the next but not noticing what is taking place in that moment.

I have found when I really slow down and live in the moment (not yesterday’s argument or tonight’s dinner plans) I experience a sense of awareness that offers groundedness where I can be my best self! And isn’t that what we truly want the world to see?!

Today, I am inviting you to be mindful.  Notice what’s going on around you; colors, smells, objects, animals, the sky, the ground, people… really everything. Just notice. Even the dirty windshield on your car needs to be noticed... without any judgment please! ;-)

It all has meaning as you will soon discover throughout our time together. All of this awareness is allowing you to open and receive the beauty that surrounds you and is within YOU! Pay attention and always have fun!

Ready to Play? Let’s go…

For today, I invite you to really look at people’s faces; their eyes, mouth, facial expressions. Notice if they are smiling, frowning, sad, happy, or unable to give you eye contact.  Then offer them your biggest and brightest smile with eye contact and see what happens.
